An IAVCEI-sponsored workshop “Volcanic Ash Aggregation: State of the Art and Future Directions” was held at the Cities on Volcanoes 9 meeting, Chile, in November 2016. Participants tackled two topics: (1) standardized field characterization of aggregated deposits, and (2) numerical modeling of aggregation processes.
The meeting was organized by Alexa Van Eaton, Ulrich Küppers, and Richard Brown, and resulted in the creation of a new Wikipedia page on volcanic ash aggregation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_ash_aggregation
